This cat as you can see isn’t your average cat. He has 3 eyes (only 2 work), 2 noses, 2 mouths, and 2 ears (only one is used for eating), all controlled by one brain. He’s been affectionately named Frank and Louie, and he’s a miracle!
He has a condition called disprosopus, or craniofacial duplication, a rare condition that causes duplication of the face and sometimes the cerebral frontal lobes. Felines with this condition are often called Janus cats after the Roman god who had two faces. Sadly cats with this condition usually don’t live very long due to health related-issues. Frank and Louie is a double-faced anomaly. He is the oldest 2 faced to cat to exist at 12 years old, a long life by any standard for a cat. His owner, Marty, a woman currently living in Massachusetts, saved Frank and Louie from euthanization and gave him the chance to live. Most Janus cats are euthanized at birth because of the fact that it can be a debilitating condition most of the time. Disprosopus has also been documented in humans.
